This summer manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was told to restrict his spending – and it may leave him with a central aggravation.
City are to find the entire extent of the accident Aymeric Laporte sustained in Saturday’s 4-0 win against Brighton.
However, Guardiola states”it does not look great” and understands any lack will leave him just two senior centre-backs.
Skipper Vincent Kompany left this summer and was not replaced.
That left John Stones and Laporte Otamendi as the champions’ just recognised defenders.
City were keen but were not ready to coincide with the 80m Manchester United.
“The team told me there is a limitation and we can’t go for it right now,” explained Guardiola.
The Spaniard spent a bar record #62.8m on midfielder Rodri, and an added #60m on Portugal full-back Joao Cancelo, who’s yet to make his introduction. City recouped throughout Fabian Delph Danilo and Douglas Luiz’s earnings around # 60m.
“We cannot manage it like other teams can manage it,” additional Guardiola.
“I never complained about that. We paid a lot of cash for a great deal of gamers, that is why we have a deep squad with a great deal of quality. But you have a limitation. Maybe later on, but we can’t do it”
Guardiola anticipates Stones to reunite following a two-game lack for the trip September, however with the Champions League campaign starting after that, also EFL Cup responsibilities this month, the City boss may need to get inventive in central defence.
That could indicate midfielder Fernandinho continuing at a defensive job following his appearance as a substitute on Saturday, or Kyle Walker shifting from the spot before.
“It’s exactly what it really is,” said Guardiola. “We are in the summer and the guys need to step forward.
“In case Kyle Walker must play a central defender, he will behave as a central defender. We have to find solutions.”
