The offseason refrain heard in Pittsburgh includes repeated overtures seeing a better locker room experience and the way the Steelers are gelling now that particular ex-teammates are gone.
With Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell formally outside of the door, multiple Steelers players have remarked about how chemistry and team building have improved.

Coach Mike Tomlin, however, knows we will not truly know the condition of a team until it is deep in the flame.
“You can not judge chemistry or culture until you are confronted with adversity,” Tomlin said, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “At the time of the year all 32 teams are undefeated and unscored upon. There was some good learning and teaching. The journey itself is the indicator of that, some of the adversity the journey supplies. Obviously, when you’re in a practice camp-like setting, and it is highly emotionally and physically and emotionally challenging, that is going to be the primary real hardship this team sees”
Maybe the Steelers locker room is a more peaceful place right now, but things can go backward if reductions bracket. This is known by tomlin. Trading Brown and watching Bell walk came with danger. It might produce the locker room better, but ability drains around the area can take their toll on any calm situation. Time will tell if the changes were worth it for Pittsburgh.
