Sol Campbell has been interviewed for the vacant Southend United project.
As he has ramped up efforts to put in a successor to Kevin Bond the ex-England, Arsenal and Tottenham shield is among those to have spoken with Shrimpers chairman Ron Martin.
Last week, campbell, who abandoned struggling League Two team Macclesfield this season, is known to have been interviewed but has yet to attend a new match.
Former Barcelona, been seen at Roots Hall and Manchester United and Celtic star Henrik Larsson has also been interviewed for the function in the Sky Bet League One club.
Although defender Adam Barrett has also been connected with the project chairman Martin is believed to have also travelled to Sweden in recent weeks.
It is known that is more likely to take place next week although martin had expected to make an appointment prior to this weekends clash with Gillingham.
Caretaker manager Gary Waddock is expected to be to Priestfield this weekend.
