“I think there just has to be one person, but maybe the balance does need to change back to red-ball cricket.
“We had a huge focus on white-ball cricket, which has been very effective – England won the World Cup for the first time this past year.
“There has been a gigantic emphasis on trying to do that and it’s been tough trying to win the Ashes and the World Cup in precisely exactly the same calendar year. And in the end of the day, the Australians are a much better team and deserve to win this sequence.”
The fifth and final Test starts at the Oval on Thursday.
