Mauricio Pochettino claims Christian Eriksen was always happy to remain at Tottenham after he failed to secure a move away.
Eriksen had admitted from the summer that he was contemplating leaving the club to be able to”try something new”.
The Denmark international, who was linked with a transfer is at the final season of his contract and will be liberated to sign a pre-contract arrangement in January 1 with European clubs.
Pochettino insists that the midfielder was constantly in the ideal frame of mind despite losing his place at Spurs’ beginning line-up at the start of the season.
“He’s always been happy here. That I advised you that he was in the right mind although Naturally, everybody has challenges and their intentions. That is why I selected him,” Pochettino explained.
“He is such an important player for us and you we appreciate a lot.
“He’s happy and if he will play, he will. All the decisions will be made on performances”
The Spurs manager, who had promised an”unsettled” team turned into a factor supporting the club’s slow start to the summer season, is now stressing the importance of re-focusing his players, at least before the January window.
“it’s essential to re-focus. Here is the squad which we’re going to have until January, once the rumours will look.
“The most important now is that the collective. We must put aside the individual situations and be together again.”
Fans may find a first sight of summertime registering Ryan Sessegnon from Crystal Palace in the weekend.
The former Fulham winger is going to be evaluated together with Kyle Walker-Peters along with Tanguy Ndombele also confronting evaluations.
“We need to assess [Sessegnon] tomorrow. Exactly the same using Kyle Walker-Peters along with Tanguy Ndombele.
“We’ve seven games within 21 days. It will be hard and we want everyone at their very best.”
Pochettino explained Giovani Lo Celso’s injury as a”miserable situation” following his adaptation for his new club had been hampered by a hip injury on international duty that’ll see him helplessly before October.
“It’s a sad situation. I am very disappointed the month to adapt to the golf club since Giovani needed. Everything was moving in a good way,” he further added.
“Today we have to wait around for himbut at precisely exactly the exact identical time we need to be optimistic and provide him a high superior recovery so that when he’s ready, he is strong and can help the team.
“Nothing is going to change the reality. We are all disappointed, the team are sad.
