South Africa rugby legend Chester Williams has died at the age of 49 of a heart attack that was supposed.
Williams was one of the very underrated players from the Springboks squad which magnificently won the Rugby World Cup on home soil.
He also scored 14 tries in 27 Tests through an global career that spanned seven decades.
Williams remained engaged after his retirement in rugby, and had been employed as head coach for the University of Western Cape following training stints in Super Rugby and with the South Africa Sevens.
His departure comes less than two months after aged 50.
News of Williams’ death came on the afternoon South Africa conquer Japan 41-7 in their final World Cup warm-up game earlier this year’s tournament.
