Harry Cobden admits That He may have a Tricky decision to make at Kempton on Boxing Day.
The rider shone at Ascot on Saturday, once the Paul Nicholls-trained seven-year-old attracted the streak of Altior to a stop.
However, stablemate Clan Des Obeaux is also on course to defend his Kempton crown, after a promising reunite at Down Royal earlier this month, and Cobden believes he has ahuge opportunity of a repeat.
Reflecting on the weekend, even Cobden explained:Cyrname looks fantastic. It was a fantastic day on Saturday – were all very proud of the horse played on the day, and that beat Altior. I am thrilled.
I definitely wouldnt get off Cyrname to ride Altior in Kempton now, after Saturday. Our horses have had a run this season as well. He has been the best horse over the day – we will need to watch at Kempton.
I would not want Clan Des Obeaux half a length down on me turning at Kempton, because he would not stop. He has clearly got a opportunity – this past year he won the race.
You might question the form a little bit, with all Thistlecrack in behind him. All the same, he won it quite well. Hes got a chance, and that I would not rule him.
I will ride the one I think will have the best chance. Cyrname had a tough race Saturday. Clan Des Obeaux is going to be going there new and firing on all cylinders – he will not be far away.
Reporting Cyrname to have obtained his Ascot exertions nicely, Nicholls – who has won the King George 10 days – stated:I am quite happy with Cyrname after Saturday. He had a difficult race. I believe both horses (Cyrname and Altior) gave their finest, ran nicely and into a high level.
If Cyrname had not run in the race on Saturday, Altior would have won by half the track and everyone would have been applauding him and saying what a excellent performance. It is just about.
I understood Cyrname was really nicely. You are never certain against a horse like Altior, since hes a superstar, but I think it was a good race – and both horses conducted to a very higher level. Cyrname only outstayed him, and had Altior out of the comfort zone.
Id like to think wed do the same in Kempton. If you see Altior at the King George I would be amazed. I am not sure what Nicky is believing, (Altior) clearly remained on Saturday, however if he wants to go up another 3 furlongs and give him another tough race soon then, I dont know.
We arent scared to take him on again. I think we have a progressive horse – hes won his last 3 races and he seems very smart.
Much like Cobden, Nicholls believes Clan Des Obeaux isdirectly in the mix for your Christmas spectacular.
He added:Clan Des Obeaux needed his very first run last season – and, again, we have left plenty to operate on. He is in great shape, looks fantastic. He is a better horse this year. I believe hes bolstered up, so he will be put by a few pounds improvement .
Kempton suits him nicely. They will go a true good gallop, (and) he will get a tow to the race. Hopefully he will be bang there three out, and then we can observe what happens within the previous few fences.
