Oscar season is upon us. Even as some argue that the Academy Awards are out of touch with contemporary entertainment and performances, people around the world will be following along on February 24 to determine which film was the finest of this year.
The choices are sometimes controversial, especially as some performers appear to be constantly snubbed. It’s hard enough to become a famous actor. In reality, you are more likely to be hit by lightning than become a famous actor, let alone an Oscar-worthy one.

But really, Glenn Close has never won six nominations. It’s no wonder that she is a front runner this year to win for her role in The Wife. It’s about time, and the chances seem to be in her favor.
Obviously everyone wants to win, but they know their chances might be slim, particularly depending on the competition. Some actors just keep getting nominated to triumph, but then end up missing out on the top decoration.
Just look at Amy Adams. She had been nominated four times in the past 10 decades but still does not have a golden statue. Or how about Denzel Washington, who had three nominations in the past ten years without a win. He has his two figurines for Training Day and Glory to keep him going.
