We are used to watching NFL activity on Sundays? Well, just one Sunday game of the preseason in Week 3 and it’ll be the final day of Sunday NFL until Week 1 of the regular season. That is because all teams play on Thursday at Week 4 of this exhibition program. The Pittsburgh Steelers visit the Tennessee Titans to close out Week 3.
Both just missed the playoffs and ended with two wins final season. The Titans would have promised a Wild-Card spot if they had won Week 17 at home vs. Indianapolis, however, the Colts were clearly superior and rolled to a 33-17 victory. Starting Titans QB Marcus Mariota missed the match and Blaine Gabbert was unsurprisingly awful in his place.
Pittsburgh needed a Week 17 win over Cincinnati and also a Baltimore property loss to Cleveland to shoot the AFC North. Pittsburgh did its project with a 16-13 victory — without star receiver Antonio Brown in his final act of defiance. However, the Ravens didn’t collaborate with a win over the Browns.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is a solid 30-22 within his preseason livelihood and 2-0 this season despite not playing beginning QB Ben Roethlisberger. The Steelers played their first two then beating Kansas City and edging Tampa Bay 30-28 in Week 1. Going by the history of Tomlin, Big Ben ought to play with a bit on Sunday. Mason Rudolph and joshua Dobbs are currently competing together with most.
Titans coach Mike Vrabel is 1-1 this season — Tennessee has yet to win a house exhibition game. The Titans lost 22-17 at home to New England a week but directed all the game and subsequently were Week 1 winners at Philadelphia 27-10. It was won by A late TD pass to the Pats. Would although the Titans first-team offense and mariota has played four series thus far the first half of the one.
Top running back Derrick Henry has yet to perform in the preseason because of a calf injury but did return to practice. Not clear if this means he could go in this . No. 1 tight end Delanie Walker broke his ankle in Week 1 final year and hadn’t played last week vs. the Patriots. He even caught a TD pass from Mariota. The Titans’ offense isn’t the same with Walker, the greatest tight end in business history. Meanwhile, the Mariota’s backup Ryan Tannehill has been excellent this preseason using a 130.8 passer rating, completing 19 of 27 for 214 yards. Some believe he may steal the job from Mariota at any stage this year.
These teams played in Week 3 but in Pittsburgh, even in the 2018 preseason. The Steelers won 16-6. Big Ben, which makes his preseason debut of’18, was 11-for-18 for 114 yards and a touchdown. Mariota did not play with a lot and has been. He missed wide-open Corey Davis for what could have been a touchdown on Tennessee’s opening drive.
As I am certain they’d love to end that home preseason losing series, we are going to take the Titans here.
