Avoid finishing bottom of Rugby World Cup Pool C. and tonga came from behind to procure a win
Two tries from substitute Mike Teo saw the Eagles take a 12-7 lead to the interval but scores after the break from Malietoa Hingano, Siale Piutau and Telusa Veainu guaranteed Tonga finished their competition on a top.
It was Tonga who opened the scoring via a Siegfried Fisiihoi try after 16 minutes as their early pressure told. Winger Viliami Lolohea broke clear and Fisiihoi picked up to discuss, if he had been hauled yards down from the lineup.
However, the USA rallied in Teo with two attempts in five minutes space. Cam Dolan flicked the ball outside the back of his hand along with the winger raced in under articles before the ball was worked wide for Teo to complete from the corner.
Tonga chased his own kick took the lead after 61 minutes after Veainu cracked on the top and then hacked the ball for Lolohea, who fed Hingano.
Tonga expanded their advantage with their third attempt. Once he broke clear the ball was taken by sione Kalamafoni on from Fisiihoi and the ball was dispersed captain Piutau to skip over.
Tony Lamborn burrowed over from close range because the USA hit back but Tonga secured the bonus point on the whistle once Veainu touched and latched onto James Faivas kick.
