Liverpool’s specialist throw-in trainer Thomas Gronnemark says Jurgen Klopp’s revolutionary approach to management will be really build”something specific” at Anfield.
Klopp made headlines last year when he included his training team and Gronnemark midway through the campaign.
The Dane, who holds the world record for the maximum throw-in in 51.33m, had a direct impact on the technique of the club’s full-backs – most especially Joe Gomez.
Liverpool went on to claim their sixth European Cup that season and Gronnemark isn’t surprised to observe the Reds.
“Jurgen is an innovator,” Gronnemark told The Athletic. “He’s a leader who says he does not understand everything and is willing to follow individuals whenever they have knowledge to select the bar forward.
“If you have a leader that wants complete control and thinks he knows best about what then that will influence your workers.
“Although you are among the best clubs on the planet, it does not mean you’ve got to do exactly the same thing as you did yesterday. You truly feel like you’re speaking with a good friend when you meet with Jurgen. He succeeds lots.
“To allow a guy into the club who had been pretty much unknown in England and convey ‘we need all your knowledge to put it in the coaching programme’, which reveals a whole lot of trust and fantastic leadership.
“He’s great at getting the most out of people. It is a lot more egocentric in clubs. There’s a satisfaction among the players and the staff. All of them feel a part of something unique.
“Sometimes I’ll stop and consider the players in front of me and think,’Oh, this is crazy’. I am working.
“Originally I had a contract for the first half of the season then it had been extended for the next half and I have one for the full season.
“I don’t think many people are laughing now. I think most folks in soccer seem on it and say,’Ok, there must be something inside’.”
