Formula 2 racer Anthoine Hubert’s funeral, who perished in August in a crash at Spa, was held Tuesday.
22, hubert, was involved during the Belgian Grand Prix weekend in a three-car mishap in an F2 race.
George Russell along with Charles Leclerc Gasly Ocon were among those present at the funeral at Chartres, France.
“Anthoineyour smile, your energy, that’s the image we have of you,” said former F1 world champion Alain Prost.
Prost, symbolizing Hubert’s team Renault Sport Racing, spoke of the motorist’s”kindness, curiosity, intelligence, professionalism and gentleness” and stated his”pursuit for perfection could have propelled him to get a bright future”.
The ceremony lasted more than three hours and was shown to a giant screen outside the French cathedral of the town, with other friends, girlfriend Julie along with Hubert’s father Francois also paying tribute to the driver, who’d won 2 F2 races this year.
Jean Todt, president of Fred Vasseur of Alfa Romeo Racing and motorsport’s governing body the FIA, F1 directors Ross Brawn, along with team executives and Sean Bratches, Chase Carey Mattia Binotto of all Ferrari, Cyril Abiteboul of Renault, were among the mourners.
Giuliano Alesi, who was also included in the three-car crash, attended a driver, with his dad Jean.
The other driver in the crash, 20-year-old American Juan Manuel Correa, is”in a critical but stable condition,” his family said on Saturday.
