A time series Starts Thursday in Atlanta between the Washington Nationals and Atlanta Braves.
Here is their best chance at doing it against the group they are currently seeking to catch if the Nationals want to play catch up in the NL East. It’s still not going to be simple when the Braves are swept by them.
They are seven games behind going so the Nationals continue to be in a position, regardless of what happens this weekend. At least when it comes to the NL East. The Nationals look prepared to sponsor a Wild Card Game in the Present Time.
The Nats are 3 games up to get homefield from the Wild Card Game on the Cubs. Along with a lead on the Cubs, they have a edge over the Phillies for a wildcard. I really don’t see that occurring, although if the Nationals miss out completely, it would be an epic meltdown. They are definitely a much better team than advertised or obtaining credit for. But if I need to play with with Washington in the postseason, I’d be taking them seriously or risk going home early in October.
And really, the same is true for the Braves. They aren’t a group. To put it differently, I don’t find the Dodgers with an easy time cruising to the World Series. The Nationals and Braves would give them a major battle.
In a do-or-die situation, Stephen Strasburg would not be the guy I’d love to see as an team. Strasburg will be out there , or at least scheduled for the nod. The Nationals seem like a fantastic bet to play in the postseason, although the Phillies and Bryce Harper have been in dire straits going into September 5th. They have been leaning at around three games back for a little while, although it might be worse. They’ve neglected to draw nearer last night after the Reds knocked off them by a score of 8-5.
Even the Phillies erased a 5-0 deficit, but slipped right back yielding 3 Minute runs to complete the game. Washington are on track to sponsor a postseason game and so are now players of the eight games in six. They’re coming off against the Mets. This was Tuesday after winning in spectacular fashion night. The Nationals hauled back for seven runs in the frame to acquire and were 10-4 in the 9th. This was the letdown spot for them, since they hope that the hangover doesn’t carryover to this weekend.
Strasburg can do his best to prevent it. Atlanta enter on a series. Strasburg was popular as well, yet. He has been on fire in his most recent excursions, as he goes into SunTrust Park using an ERA of 0.86 and 0.62 WHIP in his last 3 starts. The Braves have gotten therefore they’ve scored previously against him. In his final trip to Atlanta, he surrendered 8 hits and 3 earned runs in 5.1 innings.
While Strasburg has been around fire, Fried has been fighting with a 6.19 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in his past three outings. Where he has been a hurler that is much better Fried will likely be at SunTrust Park. He has submitted a 3.74 ERA along with also 1.27 WHIP at Atlanta, while Strasburg has functioned for a 3.59 ERA at 95.1 innings on the street. Even the Braves as a group have excelled in the home, with a listing of 42-27 on this season. The Nats have been average at. Finding the Braves is going to be great price.
