Towards a battle that’s been building for nearly a decade, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is going with Avengers: Infinity War. Thanos, the protagonist whose collision course with the remaining heroes has been put into movement as far back as 2012’s Avengers, is finally taking center stage in a battle for the Infinity Stones which will unite an whole universe of superheroes, with undoubtedly lethal consequences. Given the stakes involved and the status as the ultimate bad guy of the Marvel movies of the Mad Titan, the question is not that ones, although if one of the heroes will die.
That said, there’s no sense in dreading it. We’ve taken a look at the throw of Infinity War to come up with our best betting odds where heroes might not make it. Watch out for possible spoilers, but remember that these are our educated guesses.
Okay, let’s get this one out of the way right up front: Tony Stark is going to die in this film.
It might be. Over the last few films, Tony’s anxieties about the changing world and his attempts to get in front of the inevitable disasters that come from a planet full of superheroes and villains have gone increasingly awry. His effort to make artificial intelligence unleashed Ultron around the planet and led to the complete destruction of Sokovia, which in turn led straight to the Avengers themselves being destroyed as a team during the events of Civil War. Even his choice to reject the route that Tony took as Iron Man, characterized his latest protege, Peter Parker. With a conflict that is far larger and a lot more far-reaching than anything else he has dealt with earlier, the consequences will be just as huge — and also for Tony, that likely means a heroic sacrifice.
