The rookie period of Tampa Bay Buccaneers was a forgettable experience.
“Last year, it was definitely disappointing for me for myself and from a team perspective,” Jones said during minicamp, through the Tampa Bay Times. “Certainly, for me, it is about getting on the ideal track. We’ve got a new system, a new staff, we’re attempting to make our mark in here.”

Jones, A pick did not impress when given a opportunity and struggled to get on the field. The running back was a healthy scratch for the first 3 weeks. Then he dealt with a hamstring difficulty in the season. In nine matches, Jones engaged in all and wasn’t remarkable when he caught the ball. The 21-year-old compiled 23 carries for only 44 yards, a ghastly 1.9 yards per bag, with a single TD. The back also struggled as a pass-catcher, hauling in seven balls for 33 yards.
Jones has a new start in a new crime under Bruce Arians last year after compiling only 77 scrimmage yards. Running backs coach Todd McNair said Jones looks like a different player than the one who fought last year.
“He had been drafted where he was drafted for a reason,” McNair said. “He has a wealth of talent. Our goal is to take the tension take the expectations off him. Let only focus and make this thing small. And it is apparently paying off. He’s working hard, and he’s going to continue working hard.”
The Bucs did little to upgrade their running backs room this year leaving Peyton Barber and Jones as the projected leading runners. Jones should find every chance early in the season to prove he has set a disappointing rookie year in the past and is ready to proceed forward.
“The crime is a lot more free,” Jones stated. “I think we are in a position to play inside ourselves and be ourselves. I enjoy it a whole lot. It’s fun. I believe just for me personally, I am starting to place of the verbiage and everything together, although they’re all great coaches.
“I’m definitely ready and that I can’t wait to find the most of those opportunities, but I’ve just got to show them that I can be a player that is reputable and they can rely on me in critical situations.”
