Nicky Henderson has warned plans are fluid for Altior amid talk of a clash with Cyrname in the Christy 1965 Chase in Ascot at November.

Paul Nicholls had verified the latter had been on target for its Berkshire showpiece at his sailors’ Open Day on Sunday but composing in his blog to get Unibetthe Seven Barrows coach said:”I’d love to make it very clear that nothing was set in stone about what he will do. Following a brief chat with Patricia Pugh (proprietor on Sunday) we will most likely sit down again in the very near future and make a choice about which route we take.
“It was the same a couple of years ago when we needed to choose whether to remain hurdling and aim for the Unibet Champion Hurdle or go newcomer chasing, but I believe it’s fair to say we made the ideal decision on that front!
“All of us know how great Altior is at two miles and I guess you could say if we are the very best at one thing, why alter it? However, I think he is searching for yet another half a mile in which case we must begin thinking about is the King George?
“I’ve got a enormous amount of admiration for Cyrname and I’m not afraid to take him with Altior, however it is by no means certain they will meet from the Ascot Chase as many have indicated and there’s no doubt we’ll do what is suitable for your horse.
“Altior is back Seven Barrows and cantering away well so everything is going well and when we’ve made a determination about where he will begin his period, I’ll let you know!”
