Former Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker considers David Luiz could”learn from his errors around the pitch”, but claims the centre-back is”comfortable” at the Emirates Stadium, following his move from Chelsea.
32, the Brazilian global, in their defeat in August at fault for two of Liverpool’s goals, conceded .
Since he was really on a card , which caused the Liverpool forward scoring a fine solo goal in the 58th minute in the match at Anfield he also pulled out of a struggle on Salah.
Mertesacker, who’s Arsenal’s academy manager, says:”I believe he (David Luiz) will learn from his errors around the pitch, however he is quite comfortable being at Arsenal.
“That’s what I’ve been seeing. So we are delighted to get him.
“He brings something different to the table at this time. So I think he’s in a position to excel and learn his degree of becoming an Arsenal player.”
Following the Gunners’ draw with Tottenham, Luiz admitted that Arsenal’s defenders had to accept responsibility for devoting two first-half objectives.
The Chelsea defender has begun in 3 of the side’s of Unai Emery Premier League games this campaign.
Arsenal have both play with and conceded six goals after two wins, 1 draw and a defeat in the opening four matches of their Premier League year, leaving them fifth.
Mertesacker believes the formation of the team and the use of the front three Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe needs more clarity when they are to give fewer goals.
He added:”I think we have a lack of balance at the moment. Where you really feel like, okay we have excellent strikers but they as well should understand that we will need to get a particular compactness.
“It’s not only about us three (lead) strikers providing an offensive threat. It is all roughly these three as well, as being a defensive unit, resulting in the frontline.
“So I think we have to be careful of this. However much power you have got, you need to get a sense of defensive compactness .
“So it’s not just the back four who should be judged on the number of goals we concede.”
