Liverpool’s specialist throw-in coach Thomas Gronnemark states Jurgen Klopp’s revolutionary approach to management will be really to build”something unique” at Anfield.
Klopp made headlines last year when he included his training staff and Gronnemark together midway.
The Dane, who holds the world record for the longest throw-in in 51.33m, had an immediate effect on the technique of this club full-backs – most notably Joe Gomez.
Liverpool went on to assert their sixth European Cup later that season and Gronnemark is not surprised to see that the Reds flourishing under Klopp.
“Jurgen is a innovator,” Gronnemark told The Athletic. “He’s a leader who claims that he doesn’t understand everything and is prepared to follow people whenever they have knowledge to choose the club forward.
“If you have a leader who wants total control and thinks that he knows best about what then will affect your employees.
“Even though you’re one of the best clubs on the planet, it does not mean you have to do precisely the exact same thing because you did yesterday. When you fulfill with Jurgen you feel like you’re speaking with a great friend. He listens a lot.
“To let a man into the team that was pretty much unknown in England and convey ‘we need all your knowledge to place it into the coaching programme’, that reveals a whole great deal of confidence and excellent leadership.
“He’s great at getting the most out of individuals. It’s a whole lot more egotistical at other clubs. In Liverpool, there’s a satisfaction among the team and the players. They feel part of something specific.
“Sometimes I’ll stop and consider the players in front of me and think,’Oh, that is crazy’. I am working.
“Originally I had a contract for the first half of last season then it had been extended for the second half and I have one for the entire season.
“I really don’t believe many people are laughing today. I believe most folks in soccer seem on it and say,’Ok, there has to be something in it’.”
