Sheffield Wednesday are in talks with Lincoln director Danny Cowley about the vacant position in Hillsborough, Sky Sports knows.
After Steve Bruce stop to join Newcastle in mid-july, together with Lee Bullen in cost, the Owls are looking for a new manager.
But, Sheffield Wednesday are 11th in the Sky Bet Championship table entering this week break and have dropped three of their last four league matches.
It is believed any deal for Cowley will have helper and his brother, Nicky, making the switch.
Lincoln have told Sky Sports News that the brothers will take charge of Tuesday night’s Leasing.com Trophy match against Doncaster.
In which they currently sit second in the table Ipswich the duo have taken the club in the National League.
During their period in Sincil Bank, the club were also the first non-league side to achieve the FA Cup quarter-finals for 103 years using Lincoln also winning the Checkatrade Trophy (now Leasing.com Trophy) in 2017-18.
