Sheffield Wednesday are in talks with Lincoln director Danny Cowley concerning the managerial position at Hillsborough, Sky Sports knows.
After Steve Bruce quit to join Newcastle in mid-july, with Lee Bullen in temporary bank, the Owls are searching for a new director.
But, Sheffield Wednesday are entering this week break and have lost three of their last four league games.
It is believed any deal for Cowley will probably also have his brother and helper, Nicky, which makes the change.
Lincoln have told Sky Sports News that the brothers will take control of Tuesday night’s Leasing.com Trophy game against Doncaster.
In which they now sit second in the table and two points behind leaders Ipswich since taking over Lincoln during the summer of 2016, the duo have obtained the club in the National League.
During their period in Sincil Bank, the club were also the first non-league side to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals for 103 years with Lincoln also winning the Checkatrade Trophy (now Leasing.com Trophy) at 2017-18.
