We needed a real pleasant night with last night’s FanDuel MLB DFS Picks because we have lots of production up and down the lineup.
Our pitcher, Domingo German, got things off to a great start because he hurled seven innings of two-run ball with seven strikeouts in a winning campaign over the Baltimore Orioles. The right-hander allowed a pair of home runs that accounted for all the harm done from him in this one.
Our three-man Cubs pile did a great job too. Nicholas Castellanos stayed white-hot, especially against left-handed pitching, having a solo home run off of Jason Vargas and singled and scored an additional run as well. Kris Bryant doubled and walked Javier Baez walked and recorded an RBI, but made good on his own exceptional stolen base splits against left wing pitching using a sneak from Vargas, his 10th of the season. Quality manufacturing here.
We also did very well in our Tigers stack. Jake Rogers maintained the power stroke using a home run in this one, a two-run shot to improve his own walk. Travis Demeritte had another nice game that included a pair of singles, a pair of runs and yet the other stolen base, his third at just his 12th major league game. Finally Brandon Dixon supplied a double but unfortunately also struck four times. We received low-owned manufacturing from this trio.
I rostered 2 one-offs final night, and also among them delivered some big-time harm as Brian Dozier continued his attack on left-handed pitching with a home run off of southpaw Alex Wood. Fellow one-off Josh VanMeter didn’t offer value with only a single on the nighttime, but it’s better than nothing.
It was a great night all-around and I will seem to make it two in a row on tonight’s little six-game principal slate.
P — Aaron Nola (PHI) — $10,100 vs. CHC
The top arm with this record is left-hander Clayton Kershaw because he chooses on the Miami Marlins in Miami tonight, but I am going to rally to right-hander Aaron Nola because he takes on the Cubs at his residence park of Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia this evening. Kershaw is the obvious cash drama, but I’m going GPP with this lineup tonight. In any case, Nola was outstanding at home that year where he has posted a 3.07 ERA, 3.57 FIP, 3.73 xFIP along with a 10.78 K/9 around over 90 home innings this year compared to his 4.63 ERA,” 4.99 FIP and also 9.11 K/9 across almost half the innings in contrast to his work in the home. Certainly, we’ve got something to use here as Nola has been very good in the home more often than not this season despite a shaky beginning. His last start in the home came from the White Sox when he hurled seven innings of one-run ball with 10 punchouts to boot up. That marks the third period in the previous six starts at home in which the 2018 NL Cy Young candidate has attained 10 strikeouts. The Cubs are a hazardous offense to be sure as they rank seventh in wOBA versus right-handed pitching, however that fact together with his cost could keep Nola lower possessed than you could think. I’m eager to roll the dice GPPs tonight.
C/1B — Jake Rogers (DET) — $3,000 vs. SEA
Once again I will be rolling up with a set of three-man piles in this one tonight and rostering a few one-offs to complement the piles. My three-man Tigers pile kicks away with Rogers because I am picking him on Miguel Cabrera and Brandon Dixon at similar price points at the C/1B place. In other words, Rogers is the latest bat of those three and I wish to continue him while he is swinging that powerful stick that he’s placed on display in three individual stops this year, a journey that began at Double-A. He is going to play nearly everyday at this stage awarded his elite defense behind the plate, but Rogers could become a great supply of electricity from behind the dish because he’s homered four times in just 11 games and 44 plate looks at the MLB level this year. If you combine all 3 degrees, Rogers has smacked 18 home runs in 87 matches on the season. He struck left-handed pitching for a nice .844 OPS in Triple-A prior to his call up, and that is what he’ll see tonight against southpaw Marco Gonzales. Rogers is currently two for 6 with 2 home runs against left-handers in the major league level including last night’s taken off of southpaw Yusei Kikuchi. I think some more electricity can be generated in this matchup tonight.
2B — Niko Goodrum (DET) — $3,200 vs. SEA
Goodrum wasn’t a part of my Tigers stack last night because of price and the cosmetics of the lineup, but he is going be in this 1 tonight because he’ll produce a wrap-around pile with Rogers along with a Tigers outfielder in this 1 tonight. I desired him in last night’s stack as his bat is effective against left-handed pitching, but he can sport some exceptional splits. The extra-base electricity is increased against righties since Goodrum possesses a .173 ISO against righties when compared with a .159 markers against lefties. However, from there on out, the switch-hitting Goodrum’s splits favor facing left-handed pitching. Goodrum is hitting .364 using a .941 OPS, .393 wOBA along with also a 147 wRC+ to the season against left-handed pitching. Now, the numbers are notably better on the street against lefties, but I’m not overly concerned because he pitched in the night’s match and scored a pair of runs against the southpaw Kikuchi. There is also the fact that Goodrum has been quite good since the return by the All-Star fracture as he possesses a .213 ISO, .853 OPS, .355 wOBA along with 122 wRC+ because July 12th. Finally, we’ve got some stolen base upside here as Goodrum has swiped 12 foundations on the year, and three of which have come from a lefty.
3B — Sean Rodriguez (PHI) — $2,200 vs. CHC
My piles are not just on the inexpensive side, especially my main pile, therefore I needed to find a couple value one-offs to generate my lineup match under the salary cap on this masterpiece tonight. I think I have found some value in the bat of Sean Rodriguez as he takes on left-hander Cole Hamels along with the Chicago Cubs. Rodriguez has left his big league money by performing damage against left-handed pitching throughout his profession. In his profession against southpaws, Rodriguez owns a .168 ISO, .763 OPS, .336 wOBA plus also a 113 wRC+. Those numbers are especially superior compared to the .146 ISO, .625 OPS, .275 wOBA and 71 wRC+ against right-wing pitching. The splits are broad again this season because he’s smacked every one of his homers against left pitching in only 43 at-bats against them. He’s hitting .279 using a .233 ISO, .879 OPS, .370 wOBA along with a 129 wRC+ against left-handed pitching this season in that little 43 at-bat sample dimension. He has also produced a .350 ISO 1.041 OPS, .425 wOBA and 164 wRC+ in home against lefties this year at a 20 at-bats sample size as just two of his homers this season have come in that interval. Needless to say, we have something to work with here in terms of expressing value in Rodriguez’s bat tonight.
SS — Charlie Culberson (ATL) — $2,100 vs. NYM
The last one-off of this lineup is that the Braves’ Charlie Culberson who comes in a near-minimum cost against left-hander Steven Matz and also the New York Mets. It has been a tale of two seasons to get Matz awarded his home/away splits on the season. In the home, he possesses a eye-popping 2.14 ERA, but he’s been brutalized on the road to get a 6.79 ERA while his 6.43 FIP and also 5.23 xFIP along with a 2.59 HR/9 on the street do not just paint a lot wider picture. This could be an excellent thing for Culberson along with also the Braves as a Braves stack could very well be used tonight as well. Having said that, I enjoy Culberson as a worth one-off too. He is enjoying yet another productive season in part-time duty as evidenced by his .345 wOBA along with 110 wRC+ on the season. But, Culberson is doing some serious harm against left-handed pitching because he owns a gigantic .405 typical, .262 ISO, 1.085 OPS, .449 wOBA and also a 178 wRC+ around the season vs southpaw pitching. The sample is modest in just 42 at-bats, however the creation is actual. Not one of the hits went for extra-bases, however, Culberson is just 2 for 4 with a stolen base in his brief history against Matz. I think there is a whole lot of upside in these two one-off value plays tonight.
OF — Travis Demeritte (DET) — $2,900 vs. SEA
Completing our three-man Tigers stack is Demeritte who proceeds to impress because coming over in the Braves in the trade deadline and instantly getting his promotion into the big leagues for the first time in his profession. His cross-category possible was on screen in last night’s game as he recorded a pair of singles, scored two runs and used his brakes to steal his third base of the year in just his 12th MLB game. For what it’s worth, he also added four beats in Triple-A from the Braves’ business ahead of the transaction. It was fine to find him have some victory against a left-hander in the night’s game as he hadn’t done a small sample prior to last night’s contest, at least in the big leagues. At Triple-A, Demeritte punished southpaws for a .954 OPS this year while nine of the 20 home runs in Triple-A came against a left-hander in roughly half as many at-bats since he had against righties. Demeritte has shown wonderful consistency since entrance to Detroit as he’s recorded a minumum of one hit in nine of his 12 games, including in each of the last seven. The 24-year-old is set to have a long look at the Tigers’ outfield for the remainder of the year and I’ll look for him to carry on to make the most of the chance again tonight.
OF — Mike Trout (LAA) — $4,800 vs. PIT
Even the Angels and Pirates keep their collection by Anaheim tonight along with the Angels have a genuine fine house matchup from right-hander Chris Archer who’s mostly fought on the road this season. Archer enters this only sporting a 6.66 ERA on the road this year while he is allowed a whopping 2.05 HR/9 around the street also. Even his 4.94 FIP and 4.32 xFIP suggest there is some favorable regression to be needed for Archer on the road this year, but to be quite honest I shall just roll three Angels who struck right-handed pitching for plenty of home run power and find out where it takes me. Trout is competing for a home run crown this year and his breaks prefer this matchup. Even the righty-swinging Trout has superior numbers versus righties than lefties in the kind of a .389 ISO, 1.136 OPS, .452 wOBA along with also a 191 wRC+ versus righties on the season. His amounts versus righties at home are largely similar. We get some stolen foundation uspide with Trout as well as he has nine steals on the season, seven of which have come from righties. Archer is prone to the stolen base plus I like that Trout has three steals against him even though having a .227 batting average in 22 career at-bats from him. Nevertheless, given Archer’s street work and home series woes this season, Trout is again a high-ceiling perform tonight.
OF — Shohei Ohtani (LAA) — $3,500 vs. PIT
Next person up in our three-man Angels heap is Ohtani who continues to strike right-handed pitching for plenty of power, especially in the home. Insert in his speed on the basepaths and we certainly have loads of cross-category upside inside this matchup tonight. Entering perform tonight, Ohtani owns a .245 ISO, .902 OPS, .371 wOBA and 136 wRC+ over the season versus right-handed pitching. Furthermore, he’s submitted a .320 ISO, 1.076 OPS, .431 wOBA along with 176 wRC+ to the period against lefties at home. Ohtani has used his pace to steal 10 bases on the season, nine of which have come from right-wing pitching. It’s been a pretty quiet second half to the two-way star, however he’s caught fire during the last four games and enjoyed a big night in the night’s game too. Over his last four games, he has gone 8 for 20 (.400) with two doubles, a triple, four runs scored, six RBI and a stolen base to boot up. Yesterday evening he went 2 for 5 with a double, a triple, two runs, two RBI and a stolen base. Ohtani is one of these bata that you want to ride when hot and that’s just what I’ll do in a friendly home matchup in which he does his best work.
UTIL — Justin Upton (LAA) — $3,100 vs. PIT
Upton has seen action in only 40 games this season as a result of an accident that cost him a large chunk of the year’s first half, but the guy is once again displaying some reverse-splits and mashing right-handed pitching here again in 2019. Entering this 1 tonight, Upton sports a .238 ISO, .871 OPS, .360 wOBA along with 129 wRC+ on the season against right-handed pitching. The amounts are better on the street against righties, but given the small sample I am not concerned about that to be entirely fair. This marks the second consecutive season he has posted some showy reverse-splits since he set up a .232 ISO, .875 OPS, .373 wOBA along with 141 wRC+ against righties last year in comparison to a .125 ISO, .593 OPS, .265 wOBA along with 67 wRC+ from lefties this year. He hasn’t conducted much this year with just the one steal so far, but he has recorded 22 steals within the last two seasons and using Archer allowing his fair share of steals, perhaps the stolen base upside has a couple of ticks in the perfect way in this one. I am more intrigued by the power upside down to be confident and this three-man Angels stack brings tons of that against a pitcher permitting a ton of home runs this year.
