Preston midfielder Daniel Johnson has been Appointed the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month.
Four goals and three assists that Preston director Alex Neil was right to hand a more advanced role to Johnson. The reversal of position has given his passes impact because he brings imagination.
Johnson said:”On a personal level I am delighted to get the award, but minus the boys this would not have been achievable, so credit to them as well.
“I’ve been very pleased with the beginning of the year, however there is still a long way to proceed; hopefully I can keep up this form and continue to aid the team. I love to play at that position high up the pitch, so at which I can contribute with aids and targets.”
Swansea director Steve Cooper was appointed the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month for August.
New to senior administration and without Oli McBurnie and Daniel James, the stars of last year’s group, Cooper’s accomplishment to 16 points from a possible 18 in leading Swansea unbeaten and the top of the Championship is just nothing short of incredible.
Cooper explained:”This award is not about an individual – it is a manifestation of their hard work and effort put in not only by the players but the coaching staff and everyone connected to the club.
“In the little bit of time I have been here, it’s obvious to me that each and every person working with this football club is so driven and passionate to assist Swansea City progress.
“Results-wise it’s been a great beginning for people, and I’m delighted for everybody none more so than the fans since they’ve been amazing.
“We are only six games in so we aren’t getting removed. The challenge for everyone now is to stay focused and keep working hard to make sure our good beginning is more than that.”
Supervisor: Paul Lambert, Ipswich
Ipswich manager Paul Lambert has been named the Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month for August.
Turning a mentality around is not easy. Ipswich won just five games a year, yet they managed four victories and picked up 14 points. Lambert’s beliefs in his players is grabbing.
Lambert explained:”It’s great to get the award but it is a collective for everybody involved. From the service behind me from the team was fantastic. The players are performing every week and when they do that, you get the plaudits.”
Player: Peterborough, Marcus Maddison
Peterborough midfielder Marcus Maddison was appointed the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month.
August attracted three goals and six assists to its midfielder. Maddison enhanced as the month went to the point at which he was unplayable against both of whom he scored stunning kicks.
Maddison said:”It is an award that I haven’t won previously, so I am very happy that I’ve been given this award.
“It does mean a lot. I have had a fantastic beginning to this season, I have thought in my team-mates, the supervisor was brilliant with me and I would say I am not really at full fitness yet, so to win the award off the back of this, is fantastic. Hopefully I can continue my shape and the group could take that form forward.”
Supervisor: Exeter, Matt Taylor
Exeter manager Matt Taylor was named the Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month.
Three times in August his side plundered a goal in the last five minutes of a game. That turned an normal beginning to an outstanding individual with 14 points from six games.Taylor has his players fit and hungry to mount a marketing challenge.
Taylor explained:”It’s been a great month, but that is all down to the players. I have got and then it’s because the consequences are there, if there is a supervisor awarded the director of the month – and that’s down to the players.
“You need to keep on playing well, you would like to keep on picking up points. Where the emphasis had been on the chances to come in the upcoming few months, we had a private meeting, and we’ve got to take advantage of them.
“The lads seem to be enjoying their football and their coaching. They are working hard, but sport is strange, and it changes. A bit of luck here and there, which we’ve had so far this year, but the performances will need to keep on building and I’m going to continue asking for more out of that collection ”
Player: James Hanson, Grimsby
Grimsby striker James Hanson has been called the Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month.
Strikers just need to be loved and in Blundell Park, Hanson was made the focus of this Grimsby assault – handed the source of crosses where he thrives. Five goals and two assists in August contained a towering header.
Hanson explained:”When you come to a new club you always attempt to hit the ground running, and mercifully I have done that so much better. I have managed to get five goals and three assists and, what’s more, the team has started.
“I’m thrilled to receive this, and it only shows how well we are doing as a team also, along with the gaffer was in the nominees for the Director of the Month award. So it only shows that we’re on the right track, and we have started how we wanted to start.”
