Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka has confirmed he’s”close” to signing a new contract at St James’ Park.
His deal is seen by the Magpies number one expire in 2022 but seems set to be awarded with improved terms for his or her performances.
“We’re in discussions. I am close,” he explained. “We are in touch and hopefully we can sort it out as soon as possible.
“I am happy here so if I will remain longer here, I will be pleased. People have treated me really well, since I arrived here. I am able to say that I feel at home here.
“I’m happy that folks believe I can remain here for the longer-term. It is such a huge honour for me personally.”
Dubravka – who is also the Slovakia number one with 16 caps – signed for Newcastle following a first loan deal last summer in Sparta Prague.
He’s made 55 appearances for Newcastle since, keeping 16 Premier League wash sheets.
