The complete slate of college football games on a Saturday is upon us and it seems as good as the smell of cut grass. You seeing over 50 matches and may be studying your book, becoming overwhelmed and going back into bed. But, I’ve made picks on five matches that may??allow it to be a little easier for you.
Without further ado, here are my five most favorite college football stakes for Saturday, August 24:
This line has been moving down all week that has made me a happy guy. I expected some motion in another direction after the injury to Alabama center linebacker Dylan Moses, who is essentially the defense’s quarterback. Meanwhile, the running springs Najee Harris and Brian Robinson will likely be frozen for the first half of the game, although that may detour individuals, this intrigues me since I am sure coach Nick Saban may need some full-team repetitions with Tua Tagovailoa at the second half allowing more chances to rack up the score.
Alabama averaged 45.6 points a game last season and together with the Tagovailoa/Jerry Jeudy connection, I anticipate another offensive juggernaut at 2019, while the lack of Moses to the defensive side of the ball can create some openings early on this Duke may be able to harness and find some offense to help the OVER.
Back-to-back seasons, that the Texas Longhorns have dropped to unranked teams and that has frightened me away from backing them. That said I have a good deal of confidence at the continued progression of quarterback Sam Ehlinger and the offense of the Longhorns. Texas’ offense needs to be able to flex its muscles against an LA Tech team which must replace its entire line and has a defensive coordinator.
It takes two to tango and like the Bulldogs’ defensive line, the Longhorns have a new-look defense . There are eight defensive starters from 2018 who are not on the group this year, so there will be some growing pains for this , albeit defense that is youthful and LA Tech’s veteran offense should find victory.
I have been a small bullish on Michigan heading in to this 2019 season, this coming from an Ohio State fan. This is Jim Harbaugh’s fifth season with the Wolverines, no more excuses, that will be the team that you’ve constructed and I think that they get the year started off with a bang. Last season, Michigan had four wins of 35 points or more and also have an experienced veteran squad heading into 2019.
The Blue Raiders played ranked squad last year, Week 3 at Georgia, and was swarmed 49-7. Josh Gattis should spark some life into what appeared to be a tiny stale offense at times this past year and is the new offensive coordinator for the Wolverines. Defensively, Michigan will be one of the best colleges in the nation and winning from 35 or longer in Week 1 should not come as any shock.
The biggest game of the Week 1 schedule of college football has a set of ranked teams clubbed in AT&T Stadium in Texas. There is a great deal of hype Oregon and its quarterback Justin Herbert rightfully so, and heading to 2019. The senior threw for over 3,000 yards with 29 touchdowns and eight interceptions last year, as his Ducks finished 9-4, including a triumph over Michigan State at the Redbox Bowl.
But freshman Bo Nix has been not able to flip heads for Auburn. The two freshmen to start to get a Power Five group both went to win the championship in Trevor Lawrence in 2019 and Tua Tagovailoa in 2018 I’m not saying the title will be won by Auburn , just that Nix isn’t any joke. Furthermore there has been seven matchups with teams that are rated along with the home team is 5-2 SU and ATS in those games. The Pac-12 for a road group vs the SEC can be 6-13 SU 8-10-1 ATS total since 2008 and has not had a win because 2009.
I had to have a single underdog on the listing and I’m taking a look at the West Coast with this particular one. The Huskies are currently bringing in Eastern Washington for its first evaluation in an FCS squad and the lineup reflects the disparity between the schools. But, I think that is a lineup great enough with the Eagles coming off a solid showing in 2018 to leap .
Eastern Washington appeared in the FCS championship match and had the offense in the FCS, but lost to North Dakota State. They have nine starters returning and the app before has been shown to be hard against Washington. The Huskies have a brand new quarterback, new running and total had to replace nine starters. Washington could stumble out of the gate mixed with all the high-octane crime of the Eagles and ranked 88th in offense and that is why I am backing Eastern Washington.
