The leading leagues of europe have announced a Champions League proposal that rejects radical changes wanted by nightclubs.
UEFA have been operating together with the European Club Association (ECA) to a proposal to redesign the tournament from 2024, replacing it with a format comprising promotion and relegation that could mainly turn it into a closed competition.
It would indicate with eight-team groups giving clubs 14 games each that will squeeze dates that are readily available for domestic leagues and cups as well as locking in 24 of their 32 Champions League places.
On the other hand, that the European Leagues group says proposals incorporate no fresh promotion or relegation between Europa League and the Champions League in 2024, and restricting teams.
They also say Champions League admissions”must be determined by eligibility from the national competitions” except for its winner retaining its place.
Though largely supporting the status quothe leagues state they are”in favour of inventions [that] contribute to the development of professional football as a whole and not merely for quite a few.”
While leagues and clubs are from their own suggestions, the consultation on changes of UEFA has thus far stalled.
